Sabiki Rigs are multi-hook jigging rigs for catching mackerel, small jacks (caballitos), herring, smelt and other small baitfish. Sabiki rigs vary in length depending on number of hooks, but generally, 10 inches of main line stretches between 4-inch drop lines. Swivels attach at each end of rig. Jigs are either flashy skin-type or small squid skirts. Each rig has hooks in varying numbers and sizes, plus varying strengths (lb.-test) of main line and branch lines.

You could try increasing your chances by putting small pieces of bait onto each hook. You can either hold the rod and jig up and down, or place the rod butt into the ro- holder. This motion should be enough to get the live bait to grab hold of the hook. If you get at least one fish on, a good trick is to leave it in the water and let a few more grab hold – a great way to catch live bait fast.
